These were the first few weeks of first grade we worked a lot on phrase formation.  This helped me to verify who had acquired the basics. I would read the phrases and the students would be in charge of creating them through the moveable alphabet.  Students would follow up by writing them in their journal.

Summer Time

Well it is summer time and although all my colleagues are probably enjoying a good R&R I am stuck working on wedding plans (which I really do enjoy).  However next summer I plan to go on a cruise and get away from this Texas heat and get into some tropical type of weather.

On another note I am excited to start teaching 2nd grade.  Last year I taught 1st grade.  So I kinda know where to pick up.  This year however will be a bit different, since my class will be bilingual.  I will have to teach in Spanish and in English, sounds fun!!! I believe that bilingual education is the key for both native Spanish speakers and non-native.  Every child has the capacity to learn more than one language.  So why limit them?
